The illustrated talk will present an introduction to this technique for the improvement of soft soils and alluvial sediments by the incorporation of geotextile encased, granular filled columns. This simple but highly effective technique has been used extensively in northern Europe over the last decade with great success. The talk will include recent case histories and outline the typical design process.
