“Geosynthetics and Sustainability – Let’s use our numbers, shall we?”

The calculations and statements made about the sustainability contributions of geosynthetics are certainly correct in quality, but what about quantity? In very recent years, the assessment and calculation of CO2 emissions, water and energy consumption and other sustainability impacts have become more widespread, more accurate, more digitally and standards based and directed by EPD’s (Environmental Product Declarations) producing more accurate data. The IGS has prepared templates and examples within one of the more popular life cycle analysis calculators – OneClick LCA. This information and software is available to IGS members on an evaluation basis. Case histories have been converted into templates which users can modify to measure benefits specifically related to their project conditions. The speaker will highlight this in greater detail, give examples of the calculator usage and explain how IGS members can utilize this resource.

About the Speaker: Boyd Ramsey has been active in the geosynthetics industry and the IGS for decades. He has held several council and leadership positions and is currently the co-chair of the IGS Sustainability committee and treasurer of the IGS Foundation.
