Overview

To open the discussion about sustainability and CO2 reduction, the panellists will start with a brief introduction on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how geosynthetics can contribute to meeting the goals. They will introduce the IGS global vision, the current status on sustainability from the Global and European commissions and the UK and EU governance towards carbon reduction in the construction industry. They will present a history of progress in the UK to reducing CO2 in civil engineering and the challenges in reaching net zero. Geosynthetics case studies will be discussed with practical and quantifiable solutions to reduce CO2. After this the panel will be open for discussion and will take questions from the audience.
